Nobody is surprised by the statement of US President Donald
Trump on the environment. He called the Paris agreement unilaterally, saying
that under this, the US is spending trillions of dollars, while other countries
are not giving anything to the polluters. Trump has already rejected
international agreements on environmental issues before it became a President.
They think pollution is spreading the developing country, while the cost of
purifying the environment has to be borne of the United States. The fact is
that this fact is wrong. Then perhaps they do not even know that the Paris
Agreement is different from the Kyoto Protocol and it has equal partnership
with rich and poor countries. China has pledged to reduce its carbon emissions
from 60 to 65 per cent of GDP emissions per 2005 by 2030. India, whose GDP is
much lower than the US and China, has said to cut its emissions by 30-35%.
According to former US President Barack Obama's commitment to the Treaty of
Paris, the US has to reduce emissions by 26-28%. Trump argues that America is
paying the first payment in this agreement, whereas for countries like India
and China it is a provision for later. Environmentalists around the world have
become worried by this protest of Trump. They feel that if the US does not come
together, then all the drills for the Treaty of Paris will remain unbearable.
However, it is still to see how the American president responds on this matter
to the public's reaction. Trump, referring to America's economic interest, is
talking about the withdrawal from the treaty. But most Americans do not want
their country to be completely isolated from the international community.
Therefore, the Trump is determined to be opposed. It is possible for some
countries to get an excuse to withdraw from their promise made in the Treaty of
Paris, but it would be wrong to say that this will cause the issue of
environmental issues in cold conditions. There is a consensus among the world
that collective efforts are necessary to stop the floods, hurricanes, and
droughts that are facing us. Many countries including China are saying that
they will not let the Paris Treaty die in any way. India has also played an
important role in this treaty, which can now grow further. Taking advantage of
our better communication from America, we can try to convince Trump that the
top US in Green Technology is going to get a lot of economic benefits from the
Paris Treaty. We can unify the developing countries. There is no place to
retreat for mankind from where the world has reached the environment.
