The past year has been a very turbulent year with the view of economy, politics and nature. Britain came out of the European Union, Donald Trump was elected as the new President of the United States, and the whole world was shocked by irregular weather and uneven rainfall, the poor house and the farm were devastated. These things all seem to be good for the past, but the way our goals are changing, the future is going to get worse. This picture of the past year is showing that some big changes are needed now, so that our future is different, better and safer.
This picture is also indicative of the fact that in the way we are operating our economy, there is something wrong in it, because there is a lot of dissatisfaction in the society, and even the rich sections are not untouched by it. One meaning of this picture is that existing economic development is severely affecting our climate, and consequently, wind, water, land and food are becoming poisonous. The risk of global warming has increased. Actually, we have adopted a model of development, which promotes autocratic consumerism. It is forgetting the poor, not even in the interests of the rich themselves. Walking on the Western model of India and China, which continue towards the direction of development, is not free from danger. Natural resources are heavily exploited in this model. It is true that the industrialized countries of the world have now learned how to reduce the adverse effects of becoming rich. But they have not been able to find the solution for these adverse effects. Organic emissions produced in industrialized and large countries have hurt the climate of the whole world. The seasonal change has caused a crisis of existence in front of millions of people. That is, the western countries are not only facing the difficulties of their own but also imposing it on all the other countries which are not as capable enough to compete with them. In such a case, the question arises, should the poor countries still adopt this model? However, there is a problem that we have not searched any alternative way so far. It is said that this competition of becoming rich is only development.On the occasion of this World Earth Day, we have to look at the three different developments, which are very deeply interwoven. First, agree on the Paris Agreement. It became a common opinion in December 2015. But our (India / the southern part of the world) objection has been that the Paris Agreement is weak, as well as unbalanced, and the hope of its success is very low. We also believe that the Paris Convention has not been able to unite the whole world, it does not play an effective role in generating mass wars against climate change. The second event, to increase the risk from acute and peculiar changes in the weather. And third is 'poisonous' due to 'economic development'. It has its impact on our other cities like Delhi, which we have seen as gasping for the clean air.
